I’m back from Saturday’s World Masters Mountain Running Championships in Betws-y-Coed, North Wales. On Wednesday morning I could hardly put any weight on my right foot given my recently diagnosed Plantar Fasciitis. I told the lads I was due to travel with I was, at best, “doubtful”. On Wednesday afternoon I was booked to see Jim for a general massage in preparation for the race. Instead, I asked him to work on my foot. As ever, I had to grin and bear it somewhat, but this is no price to pay for what you get from Jim in return. In this case, he put me in a position where I could compete. I’d go as far as to say he worked miracles in that hour: all things considered I had a great run; certainly my foot didn’t bother me. There’s more work to do to get rid of my PF entirely, and I will trust to my doctors to help me with that. But, believe me, Jim made the difference between me competing and not. He should be treated as an invaluable member of anyone’s team when injured, and when not. He’s certainly part of mine. I can’t recommend his services highly enough.
